London Fashion Week S/S 2013 - Aminaka Wilmont
Print-loving design duo Aminaka Wilmont took their inspiration for Spring / Summer 2013 from perfume. It may seem odd to take a visual cue from something invisible, but the techniques of layering notes in fragrance inspired a similar idea when it came to prints - thus we saw semi-transparent florals topping each other, teamed with wood, thunder and lightning.
The silhouette was sleek and simple, letting the prints do most of the talking. Aminaka Wilmont do slightly slouchy mini dresses particularly well, and their super-slim printed trousers teamed with leather or salmon skin structured tops looked amazing on the catwalk.
There were also sharp little shorts, a series of great shirt dresses (the models can get away with them loose, mere mortals may wish to belt them to avoid the boxy effect) and longer dresses with splits - if you're going to do a maxi next year, you need to show a little leg along the way.
The series of black and white prints that ended the show were a great contrast to the pale coloured florals that opened it, and made sure that Aminaka Wilmont nodded to a key trend without losing what makes their label unique.
