Sophisticated dresses as expected at Roland Mouret's Paris Fashion Week A/W 2012 show

 

Roland Mouret drew inspiration from Paris' Great Freeze of 1947, he said in his show notes.
"There was a sense of contradiction between a new rising elegance, an haute couture attitude whilst others struggled to keep warm."
There was definitely a cool elegance in Mouret's Fall 2012 show. There were, as always, an array of sophisticated form fitting dresses, as is expected of the creator of The Galaxy Dress. One can only imagine the internal rigging and feats of compression on the inside of each garment that walked down this runway.

There was also, as has become predictable by the time we arrived at Paris Fashion Week, sporty-trendy fur on some vests and coats. I definitely saw some of these looks, and some of the colorful dresses on a more youthful, spirited customer.
Most of the collection, though, was trademark elegance. Uncomplicated, fuss-free dressing even in the looks that were layered or involved separates - and there were plenty. A solid, beautiful collection, if not earth shattering.
